birthdays, runners high and cookie cutters

So it’s been awhile..and it seems as if I have lived a lifetime since the last time I blogged.  I will just hit the highlights and what is currently swirling through my mind.  I turned 25…which I was not looking forward to in the slightest.  I guess when I was in high school I had certain ideas of where I would be when I was “that old”, and I’m not in that place at all.  The funny thing is, I don’t want to be where I thought I would be so I don’t know why I was so worried.  Such is life I suppose.  So far, twenty five has treated me really well, and I look forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings my way….

My aunt made this cake, which I thought was so cool.  My friend Debs took the picture that my aunt used.  So neat!

I’ve decided that I want to be a runner.  I decided this almost three months ago, but I wanted to see how it panned out before I blogged about it.  So far so good.  I’m up to running 50 minutes with a one minute walk at 25 minutes.  To all you avid runners out there this may not seem like much, but for someone who started off running thirty seconds and feeling like she might pass out, I would say this is an accomplishment:)  I think I’ve started to experience the runner’s “high” just a tiny bit.  I am really enjoying it, and I never thought that would be the case.  I have been able to watch the leaves change colors, beautiful sunsets, interesting neighborhoods, and other runners on my adventures.  It’s time I get to think about nothing at all or everything at once.  It’s been great.  I’m tinkering with the idea of running a half marathon in the spring…we will see what happens with that whole thing!

This picture, nor any picture, does not do justice to my view.  Out in the middle of nowhere, not having to worry about traffic or creepsters I got to run on Christmas Day morning.  When I started my run millions of starts decorated the sky.  I always forget how beautiful the stars are when I’m in the city…it’s always such a stunning reminder.  This picture was at the end of my run, when the sleepy world is about to be woken up by one of the Creator’s paintings…

Christmas came and went.  I tried to enjoy all the little moments because they always seem to pass too quickly.  I made Christmas cookies which I always like doing because it gives me an excuse to use a few of the many many cookie cutters I have:)

…all my first cousins on my dad’s side, as you can see the girls overpower the boys by far:)

…and so I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year
